Inmates allege guard threw hot coffee on them, caused burns

BATON ROUGE – Two men currently incarcerated at the Louisiana State Penitentiary allege they were attacked and injured by an officer.

Eric McCall and Tyrone Wells filed a complaint on May 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Lt. Cedrick Ferguson alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Sept. 15, 2016, Ferguson threw pitchers of hot coffee on them. They allege they suffered peeling skin form the burns. The plaintiffs holds Ferguson responsible because the defendant allegedly unlawfully used excessive/unnecessary force and corporal punishment on plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against defendant plus legal interest, litigation expenses and such other just and equitable relief. They are represented by Donna U. Grodner of Grodner & Associates in Baton Rouge.
