GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman claims that unmaintained steps caused her to fall.

Karin Digiovanni filed a suit May 31 against Manhattan Athletic Club and ABC Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was at the Manhattan Athletic Club at 4162 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey on July 21, 2016, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to fall on steps that there not maintained. The plaintiff found that other individuals had fallen in the same place due to the structural flaw of the steps, according to court records.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to warn of the danger, failing to remedy the situation, especially after others had been injured in the same situation and overall negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by Robert B. Evans III of The Evans Law Firm in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.

The 24th Judicial District Court case number 772630.
