NEW ORLEANS – An Ouachita Parish man alleges that he was injured while working aboard a drillship.

William L. Frierson filed a complaint on May 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Diamond Offshore Management Co., Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc., National Oilwell Varco LP and Hydralift Amclyde Inc. alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 22, 2016, he was working within the course and scope of his employment with defendants Diamonds when he sustained severe injuries to his mind and body when the pipe racking system on the drillship Ocean Blackhawk malfunctioned. Plaintiff alleges he has suffered severe anxiety and depression, had to seek medical attention and has been unable to work.

The plaintiff holds Diamond Offshore Management Co., Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc., National Oilwell Varco LP and Hydralift Amclyde Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a safe place to work, failed to provide a sufficient and/or competent crew and failed to properly supervise plaintiff’s activities.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages as are reasonable in the premises, all costs of these proceedings and all other general and equitable relief. He is represented by Hugh P. Lambert, Cayce C. Peterson, Jacki L. Smith, Morgan Embleton and Brian C. Mears of The Lambert Firm PLC in New Orleans.
