Logging truck operator alleges he was injured on Parker Drilling Offshore barge

Medical malpractice 04

NEW ORLEANS – A St. Landry Parish man alleges that he injured his back while on a barge.

Ronald Malbrough filed a complaint on May 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, New Orleans Division against Parker Drilling Offshore USA LLC alleging that the drilling barge owner violated the Occupational Health and Safety Administration and/or Coast Guard regulations.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 23, 2016, he was employed by Baker Hughes as an operator/driver on a logging truck aboard a barge owned by the defendant. He alleges he herniated a disc in his back when he attempted to remove a heavy tool that the defendant's crew had placed in a basket that was chest-high to the plaintiff.

The plaintiff holds Parker Drilling Offshore USA LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to eliminate hazardous or unsafe conditions and failed to monitor the actions of the vessel's crew.

The plaintiff seeks damages in a sum set by the court plus legal interest, costs of these proceedings and all other just and equitable relief. He is represented by Rusty Galloway of Galloway & Jefcoat LLP in Lafayette.
