SHREVEPORT – A Texas man alleges that his late father did not receive adequate care at a Shreveport VA hospital.
Kenyon J. Garrett filed a complaint on June 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Shreveport Division against United States of America alleging negligence, false imprisonment, medical malpractice, wrongful death and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that as a result of the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center's employees' negligence, plaintiff's father Clarence Garrett's medical condition deteriorated and he died on Aug. 28, 2015. The suit states the decedent was under the defendant's care from April 11 to July 1, 2015. The plaintiff holds United States of America responsible because defendant's employees failed to treat signs of an intestinal bleed, falsification of medical records, failed to provide adequate nutrition and other counts.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in the amount on $4 million, plus interest and costs and such other general and equitable relief. He is representing himself.
