Jefferson Parish woman accused of misusing grant money

GRETNA – The state of Louisiana is seeking more than $33,000 from a Jefferson Parish resident.

The state of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a suit June 26 against Kelly Schulin Mire in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging sums due.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking repayment of $33,510.90, which was given to the defendant as a grant to complete improvements following Hurricane Katrina. The suit states that the defendant misused the funds.

The defendant is accused of sums due.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John C. Walsk of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner Jr.
