NEW ORLEANS – A Jones Act seaman alleges he was injured while working because his employer failed to provide a safe place to work.

Tyler Binney filed a complaint on June 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against American River Transportation Co. LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in August 2015, he was employed by defendant working aboard the M/V Cardinal Pride when he experienced an accident that resulted in serious painful injuries to his ulnar nerve, neck and other parts of the body.

The plaintiff holds American River Transportation Co. LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a reasonably safe place to work and to properly train and supervise him.

The plaintiff seeks all damages to which he is entitled to recover, plus legal interest, costs, expert fees, adequate maintenance benefits and cure benefits and all other general and equitable relief. He is represented by Timothy J. Young, Tammy D. Harris and Megan C. Misko of The Young Firm in New Orleans.
