Woman claims she fell due to a faulty shower seat at New Orleans Holiday Inn

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages, claiming that she was injured when a shower seat broke.

Alberta Brock filed a lawsuit against Hospitality Management Advisors Inc. and The Phoenix Insurance Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the incident took place July 8, 2016. The plaintiff was a guest at the Holiday Inn at 334 O'Keefe Ave., New Orleans, when she tried to use the handicapped shower seat and it broke, the complaint states. The plaintiff claims she fell, struck the shower and sustain injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence of management, failing to warn of danger, failing to ensure the safety of the seat and overall negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorneys Hugh P. Lambert, Jeremy Z. Soso and Cayce Peterson of The Lambert Firm in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
