NEW ORLEANS – A medic alleges he was injured on a vessel because his employer failed to provide a safe working environment.

Brent McCain filed a complaint on July 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Seadrill Americas Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 12, 2014, he sustained personal injuries to his lower back while working for the defendant as a member of the crew of the Sevan Louisiana. The plaintiff holds Seadrill Americas Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a safe place to work and to properly train and supervise employees.

The plaintiff seeks damages in the total sum of $1.5 million, plus interest, attorneys' fees, costs of these proceedings and all further general, equitable relief. He is represented by Berney L. Strauss, Rhett E. King, Clinton G. Mead and Christopher D. Matchett of Strauss & King APLC in New Orleans.
