Surgeon accused of leaving metal object in woman's leg

GRETNA — A woman claims that a metal object was left in her leg after surgery for varicose veins.

Kathryn Poole filed a suit on Nov. 10 against Dr. Charles Thomas and Southern Surgical Specialists in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Jan. 20, 2014. The suit states that the defendant left a piece of metal in the plaintiff's left thigh after the surgical procedure, which caused the plaintiff a great deal of pain in the following days and forcing her to go to the ER to find the cause of the pain. The plaintiff allegedly has suffered scarring and injuries due to the defendant's negligence

The defendant is accused of negligence and medical malpractice.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Jeremy Z. Soso of The Lambert Firm PLC in New Orleans

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
