Woman claims her private information was leaked online

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that her personal information was leaked online.

Laura Helm, Jaqueline Helm and Edward Helm filed a lawsuit Jan. 5 against Louisiana Health Service & Indemnity Co. dba Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Louisiana; Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Louisiana Inc.; United Healthcare Services Inc.; Golden Rule Insurance Co.; and Sandra Rose LLC in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence, defamation and breach of privacy.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff applied for health insurance in July 2017. During the application status, one of the employees of the defendant allegedly took screenshots of the plaintiff's application and in the course of the incident, the plaintiff's application screenshots were published on Sandrarose.com. The plaintiff had to dodge many false allegations that were made about her in addition to having personal information leaked online.

The defendant is accused of negligence, defamation and breach of privacy. 

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney James M. Williams of Chehardy, Sherman, Williams, Murray, Recile, Stakelum & Hayes LLP in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Rachael Johnson.
