Couple claims insurance company denied reimbursement for medical expenses

NEW ORLEANS – A law firm is seeking damages for a couple claiming they were denied reimbursement for their minor child's health expenses.

Plaintiffs Isaac H. Soileau Jr. and Karen S. Kovach, appearing herein individually and on behalf of their minor child, were represented by Soileau & Associates LLC in a lawsuit filed Dec. 22 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Louisiana Health Service & Indemnity Co., dba Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Louisiana alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages claiming that after receiving medical care, the plaintiffs submitted reimbursement requests to the defendant but were denied. The suit states the defendants failed to respond in timely manners to the reimbursement requests and additionally contributed to the damages felt by the plaintiffs who were seeking out medical care for their minor child.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Ryan A. Jurkovic of Soileau & Associates LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney Cates IV.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 2017-12318.
