Maker of Gold Bond Diabetic Cream accused of negligence

GRETNA – A man claims that he was caused to have an allergic reaction by Gold Bond Diabetic Cream.

Emile Sanchez filed a suit on Jan. 19 against Chattem Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Jan.30, 2017. The suit states that the plaintiff was using the defendant's product, Gold Bond Diabetic Cream, on his foot when he started to experience loss of feeling, skin peeling and skin damage on the following day. The plaintiff claims that the defendant is responsible because the company failed to provide a safe product.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to properly warn of danger and test for reactions such as the plaintiff experienced.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by William R. Mustian III of Stanga & Mustian in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
