Wayfare Restaurant says Jefferson Avenue Canal work damaging property

NEW ORLEANS – A restaurant is seeking damages after the city's work on a nearby canal allegedly caused structural damage to its property. 

Arnona Restaurant Group LLC, doing business as Wayfare Restaurant, filed a lawsuit on Jan. 16 against the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, crews working for the defendant allegedly damaged the plaintiff's property by failing to take necessary precautions while working on the Jefferson Avenue Canal.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Charles M. Thomas of Huber, Slack, Thomas & Marcelle LLP in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
