Woman seeks damages for trip and fall at New Orleans festival

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she tripped and fell on a tree root at a festival.

Annette Beal filed a lawsuit February 5 against Westchester Surplus Lines Insurance Co., French Quarter Festivals Inc., the City of New Orleans, and others in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place April 9, 2017 when the plaintiff was a guest at the French Quarter Festival. The suit states the plaintiff was caused to trip and fall on a tree root that was protruding from the ground.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Joyce Young of the Law Offices of Michael C. Ginart Jr & Associates in Chalmette.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Henry Julien Jr.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 18-1145.
