Man claims he was injured when elevator hoist fell at construction site

NEW ORLEANS – A man fell several stories at a construction site because of an allegedly faulty elevator hoist.

Duane Dean and his wife Christy Dean filed a lawsuit on Feb. 1 against Woodward Design+Build LLC, Eagle Access LLC, and Eagle Scaffolding and Equipment Company Inc. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on July 28, 2017 when the plaintiff was working at a construction site at Julia and Rampart streets in Orleans Parish. The suit states that the plaintiff was injured when the site's elevator hoist fell several stories.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Brian G. Shearman of Shearmaan-Dennea LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Rachael Johnson.
