Lawsuit claims defective clothes dryer caused house fire

GRETNA – A woman claims her home was damaged in a fire caused by a defective dryer.

State Farm Fire and Casualty Co. and Conchetta Tillery filed a suit Feb. 14 against LG Electronics USA Inc and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co. of America in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages, claiming that the defendant's dryer which the plaintiff had purchased, caused a fire in the plaintiff's home and left the plaintiff with a great deal of loss.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Blaine Aydell of Hanna, Colvin & Pipes LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 780597.
