Woman claims ex-husband prescribed addictive drug to her, then sought divorce

GRETNA – A woman claims that her husband, who is a doctor, prescribed her an addictive medication and then divorced her.

Amber M. Sanchez filed a suit Feb. 22 against Ochsner Clinic Foundation and Christopher A. Sanchez, M.D. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging medical malpractice.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was prescribed valium following giving birth in 2013 by the defendant, her husband. The plaintiff was caused to develop an addiction to the medication and the defendant then told the plaintiff that having a glass of wine with the valium was safe. The plaintiff began to suffer from emotional distress due to her dependency on the drug and the defendant divorced the plaintiff in 2015.

The defendant is accused of medical malpractice, breach of the standard of care.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Jonathan Pedersen in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee Faulkner Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 780883.
