Woman claims she was injured when apartment ceiling collapsed

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages for an incident that left her injured and her apartment damaged.

Melaina Glanton filed a suit March 22 against 1st Lake Properties Inc. and ABC Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff claims that on July 6, 2017, she was a resident at WillowWood Apartments in Jefferson when she was caused injury. The injury was caused when the ceiling in the plaintiff's apartment collapsed and struck her on the head, causing injuries, and that she then slipped and fell on a puddle of water as she tried to escape the debris.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failure to maintain the property.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Tommy Badeaux in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald Rowan.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 781897.
