Woman claims she was injured at pawn shop

GRETNA – A woman injured her back when her crutch became stuck between tiles.

Shelita Sherman filed a suit April 19 against Cash America Pawn and ABC Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Aug. 9, 2017 when the plaintiff was at the defendant's property at 3315 Jefferson Highway. The suit claims the plaintiff was caused to injure her back and leg due a missing tile that caught her crutch.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to repair the damages or warn of the danger.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Peter Hamilton III in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen Grefer.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 782925.
