Woman claims medical malpractice led to strokes

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages, claiming that her practitioner's malpractice caused her to have two strokes.

Cecelia Banko filed a suit April 19 against Dr. Valdehl Boinapally and ABC Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging medical malpractice.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place at the Ochsner Hospital. The defendant began treating the plaintiff in October 2014 and during the course of treatment, the suit states, the defendant failed to treat the plaintiff's condition in a timely manner, which led to the plaintiff's strokes in 2014 and 2015.

The defendant is accused of medical malpractice.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by J. Michael Daly Jr in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius Regan.
