Man accuses Mothe Funeral Home LLC of negligence after his father's body allegedly was missing at funeral

GRETNA — A man claims that he was traumatized when his father's body allegedly was not present at his funeral.

Robert J. Hess Sr. filed a suit on May 23 against Mothe Funeral Home LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence and unnecessary infliction of trauma.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that allegedly took place on May 31 when he allegedly was attending his father's funeral. The suit claims that when the plaintiff approached the casket, he allegedly discovered that it contained another person's body.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney's fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Kevin D. Thompson in Houma.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.

The 24th Judicial District Court case number 784090.
