GRETNA – A patient is suing Ochsner Clinic Foundation, claiming that health complications arose as a result of a doctor's negligence.
Sunday Hoke filed a lawsuit June 28 against in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence and medical malpractice.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that began on July 2, 2016, when she fell and was sent to the emergency room.
Hoke said she was given a soft cast and later developed a rash. On July 11, 2016 the plaintiff was admitted to Baptist Hospital for surgery. The suit states that the plaintiff began to experience complications following her discharge, including swelling of her neck, and she was readmitted for a third surgery on July 13 for the removal of tissue and muscle. The plaintiff alleges that all of the subsequent damages suffered could have been prevented by better care on the first visit.
The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney's fees and court costs. She is represented by J. Michael Daly Jr in Metairie.
The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry Sullivan Jr.
