Pedestrian blames Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans for fall

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she fell in a hole in a poorly maintained portion of sidewalk, causing her to be injured.

Peggy Haynes filed a lawsuit June 27 against the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that occurred on Aug. 4, 2017 when she was walking in an area managed by the City of New Orleans. The plaintiff said she allegedly fell into a hole that was not clearly marked.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney's fees and other appropriate relief. She is represented by George Recile of Chehardy, Sherman, Williams, Murray, Recile, Stakelum & Hayes LLP in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper Griffin.
