University of New Orleans claims former student owes more than $4,000

NEW ORLEANS – A university is seeking payment of more than $4,000 allegedly owed by a former student.

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, through the University of New Orleans, filed a lawsuit July 9 against Ashley Monique Stevenson in Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an open account with a balance of $4,034, plus interest, claiming that the defendant failed to pay off the amount due.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney's fees and all appropriate relief. It is represented by attorney Anthony Winters of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper Griffin.
