GRETNA – A couple is seeking damages after the husband became trapped in an elevator that fell two stories.
Clifton and Mary Rhodes filed a suit July 20 against Inclinator Co. of America Inc., Champagne Elevators LLC, Winter Elevator Services Inc., and Great American Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.
According to the claim, the plaintiffs were residents at the 261 Metairie Heights Ave. townhouse on July 20, 2017 when the plaintiff, Clifton and a few young adults who were in the elevator were caused injury and distress when the elevator fell two stories, striking the elevator pit and leaving the plaintiff and the young adults trapped inside. The plaintiff is still suffering from physical and emotional distress from the negligence of the manufacturer.
The defendant is accused of negligence.
The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Krista Eleew in New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
