Woman sues Jefferson Parish and insurance firm, after allegedly falling into a large hole

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages against The Parish of Jefferson and ABC Insurance Co., after she allegedly slipped and fell into a large hole caused by a leak in a water main.

Debra Butler filed suit on July 27, in the 24th Judicial Court, Gretna, claiming negligence in the accident. The plaintiff claims that there were no signs to warn of danger, when she slipped and fell into the hole, at 412 Avenue G, Marrero.


The defendants are accused of failing to maintain the area or to warn people of the danger.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Clifton M. Davis III of the Law Offices of Clifton M. Davis III in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 786010.
