Fall from catwalk prompts lawsuit

NEW ORLEANS –– An injured worker accuses the University of New Orleans of negligence.

Joseph Laurent filed a complaint on Oct. 3 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors and University of Orleans

According to the complaint, the plaintiff suffered injuries after falling 37 feet from a catwalk.

The defendants are accused of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney S. Eliza James of Forrest Creey & James LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
