Community college goes after student for alleged $1,000 debt

NEW ORLEANS –– A student faces a lawsuit from a community college for an alleged $1,000 debt.

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System, through Delgado Community College, filed a complaint on Oct. 1 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Lawrencia Marie McCarty.

According to the complaint, the defendant owes a balance of $821.55, plus interest.

The defendant is accused of sums due.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorneys Kaila M. Hutchison of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Nakisha Ervin-Knott.
