Louisiana Disaster Recovery Unit is seeking over $37,500 after a resident failed to pay back a loan that was issued to them

GRETNA – The State of Louisiana is seeking more than $37,000 in sums due.

The State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint on Nov. 27 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Antoinette Marie Hutchison, aka Antoinette Garrett.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an unpaid grant that was given to the defendant to make repairs on the defendant's property. The suit states the plaintiff is seeking repayment of the grant, which was meant as a loan to be paid back, but that the defendant has remained negligent in the balance owed. The plaintiff is seeking $37,500 in sums due from the defendant, which remains unpaid despite amicable demand.

The defendant is accused of sums due on an unpaid account.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Mary Catherine Cali of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott Schlegel.
