Woman claims University Healthcare System breached standard of care

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages alleging breach of standard of care for her knee pain.

Savanna K. Bell-Stevens filed a complaint on Dec. 3 in the 24th Judicial District Court against University Healthcare System LC, Wendell Heard, Brent V. McCarty, Suhaila M. Nawabi and William Hester. 

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place when the plaintiff was admitted for surgery on June 12, 2015. The plaintiff was discharged on June 13, 2015 and readmitted on June 14, 2015 before being discharged on June 18, 2015. The suit states that the plaintiff's knee was not operated on as it should have been and that the plaintiff still suffers from the pain in her left knee due to a breach in the standard of care from the defendant.

The defendant is accused of negligence and breach in the standard of care.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Albert Thibodeaux of Davillier Law Group in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen Grefer.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 790048.
