Allstate seeks damages from manufacturer of malfunctioning washing machine

GRETNA – An insurance company is seeking damages on behalf of a customer whose home was damaged due to malfunctioning washing machine.

Allstate Insurance Co. filed a complaint on Dec. 10 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Haier U.S. Appliance Solutions Inc.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Dec. 17, 2017 when the plaintiff's policyholder was using the defendant's appliance at her home. The suit states the policy holder's home was caused damage when the washing machine tub overfilled with water and began cascading down, causing water damage to her flooring and home. The plaintiff is seeking damages for the malfunction of the machinery.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failing to prevent an incident from taking place.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Eric Miller of Bolen, Parker, Brenner, Lee & Engelsman Ltd. in Alexandria.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John Molaison Jr.
