Northwestern State claims former student owes over $1,200

NEW ORLEANS – A university is seeking over $1,200 in sums due from a former student.

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors through Northwestern State University filed a complaint on Dec. 14 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Othello Carter.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for sums due on an open account. The suit states the defendant was a student during the Spring 2016 semester, and that the defendant failed to pay off the balance of fees accumulated, which totals $1,255 plus interest.

The defendant is accused of sums due on an open account.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Scott Smith Jr. of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel Julien.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 2018-12561.
