McDonald's customer says she was burned by unsealed cup of coffee

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages alleging that she was burnt by an unsealed cup of coffee at McDonald's.

Felicia Bailey filed a complaint on Dec. 21 in the 24th Judicial District Court against McDonald's Restaurants of Louisiana Inc., ABC Insurance Co.and employee John Doe.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Dec. 22, 2017 when the plaintiff was at the defendant's business at 3407 Lapalco Blvd. in Harvey. The suit states the plaintiff was given a cup of coffee, but that the lid was unsecured, causing it to spill on the plaintiff and give her second-degree burns.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failing to take the appropriate actions.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Ralph Bickham of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond Steib Jr.
