GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages after she claims she was caused to slip and fall at a Walmart due to a dangerous substance on the ground.

Fonda McKnight filed a complaint on Dec. 21 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Walmart Louisiana LLC, Walmart Inc. and XYZ Corp.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Dec. 30, 2017, when the plaintiff was a guest in the Walmart at 300 W. Esplanade Ave. in Kenner. The suit states the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall due to no fault of her own as a result of a grease-like substance that was on the ground. The plaintiff claims she was caused to sustain injuries because of the defendant's failure to properly clean up the portion of ground or warn of the danger.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failure to remedy a dangerous condition.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Bryce Murray of Big Easy Law Group LLC in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond Steib Jr.
