Woman charges she slipped and fell at Taste Buds

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages for a slip and fall in a restaurant that she claims due to a mess that had not been cleaned up.

Michelle Melancon filed a complaint on Dec. 28 in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Taste Buds Inc., Taste Buds Management LLC, Zea Manhattan LLC, Semolina Development LLC, and Zurich American Insurance Co.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Jan. 13, 2018 when the plaintiff was a business invitee at the defendant's property. The plaintiff allegedly was caused to slip and fall while she was walking through the defendant's restaurant because of a substance on the ground that the plaintiff slipped on.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failure to prevent an injury from taking place.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John Venezia of Attorneys for Michelle Melancon in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel Julien.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 2018-13027.
