Disaster Recovery Unit seeks more than $37,500 for unpaid grant

GRETNA – The State of Louisiana alleges a couple has failed to use a government grant for its designed purpose.

The State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint on Jan. 11 in the 24th Judicial District Court against William David Motes and Carmen V. Motes.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for sums due on a government grant. The suit states the defendants were given a grant for $37,500 that was meant to be used to elevate their home. The defendants have, however, allegedly failed to use the grant for the designed purpose.

The defendant is accused of sums due on a government grant.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond Steib Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 791168.
