B of A seeks $12,200 from allegedly negligent customer

GRETNA – Bank of America is seeking more than $12,000 from a man it claims has neglected to pay the balance on an open account.

The financial institution filed a complaint against Joseph B. Lips Jr. on Feb. 1 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff claims it is owed $12,202.97 plus interest. The defendant has remained negligent on the balance despite amicable demand, the suit states.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. Bank of America is represented by Jeffrey M. Toepfer of Couch, Conville & Blitt LLC in Metairie.


The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
