State alleges that couple misused $37,500 in grant money

GRETNA – The State of Louisiana is seeking more than $37,000 from a couple it claims has misused a grant.

State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint against Donnie Dale Brumfield and Louise J. Brumfield on Feb. 7 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff states that the defendants were given a loan for repairs to their home but that the funds were misused. The plaintiff now owes $37,500, the complaint says.

The defendant is accused of sums due on a grant. The plaintiff, represented by John C. Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge, is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs.


The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
