State accuses couple of misusing a $30,000 grant

GRETNA – The State of Louisiana is seeking more than $30,000 from a couple accused of failing to use a grant for the appropriate purpose.

State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint against Luong Thanh Vo and Tam T. Vo on Feb. 11 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff states that the defendant has failed to pay off the balance due for a $30,000 grant that was meant for home repairs. The state claims, however, that the defendant has failed to use the money for the usage that for which it was designated.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John C. Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.


The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
