Lawsuit claims couple owes $37,500 for misusing grant money

GRETNA – The State of Louisiana alleges that it is owed $37,500 from a couple it claims misallocated funds from a government grant.

State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint against Ricardo Hernandez aka, Ricardo Hernandez Dolmo and Erica Monique Hernandez on Feb. 7 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff states that the defendant received $37,500 in the form of a grant that was meant for the purpose of repairing a home. However, the defendant was negligent and misused the balance and is now indebted for $37,500 in sums due, the suit claims.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John C. Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.


The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner Jr.
