State office seeks $29,000 in misallocated grant money

GRETNA – The State of Louisiana's Disaster Recovery Unit alleges that a woman owes more than $28,000 on a grant that was misused.

State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint against Sue Harper on Feb. 8 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff states that the defendant received a grant of $28,792.48 that was meant for the purpose of repairing a home. However, the suit claims that the defendant was negligent and misused the funds and is now indebted for the balance due.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John C. Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.


The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
