NEW ORLEANS - An anonymous plaintiff on Feb. 19 brought a lengthy federal lawsuit against Tulane University over its handling of sexual assault claims against him.

The plaintiff is a male and former Tulane student. He alleges that the university's disciplinary proceedings that he endured were faulty and flawed after he was wrongly accused of sexual assault by another Tulane student.

The plaintiff and the anonymous female student allegedly engaged in consensual sexual activity twice in 2016. The plaintiff says in the lawsuit that after the pair's relationship turned sour, the female student said that she would "turn events that transpired between the two into a sexual assault case."

The university allegedly did not notify the plaintiff of the charges against him in an appropriate amount of time, refused to disclose the accuser's interview statements and altered her statements to remove inconsistencies and maximize her credibility.

The plaintiff also accuses Tulane investigators of deliberately altering certain witness statements to corroborate the accuser's claims.

The man says he was wrongfully expelled from Tulane and that his educational career has been forever handicapped.

The plaintiff is asking the court to order his record expunged at the university and award pre-judgment interest, litigation fees and other judgments as deemed appropriate. The plaintiff is represented by Ellie Schilling at Schoneckas, Evans, McGoey and McEachin LLC of New Orleans.
