A self-represented plaintiff has launched a staggering $500 billion lawsuit against major financial institutions and government entities, accusing them of tortious interference with business relations. Ronald Satish Emrit filed the complaint on April 9, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, targeting the Federal Reserve Bank, Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), and National Mint.

Emrit's lawsuit centers around President Trump's tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China, which he claims are harming the American economy. He is urging Chief Judge Shelly Dick to issue a declaratory judgment against these tariffs. "The tariffs are negatively impacting the American economy," Emrit asserts in his filing. He seeks not only a preliminary injunction to halt these tariffs but also punitive damages amounting to $500 billion from the defendants. Emrit argues that this could evolve into a class-action suit representing impoverished Americans affected by these economic policies.

The plaintiff identifies himself as an indigent, disabled resident who splits his time between Florida and Maryland. His allegations extend beyond just economic policy; he accuses the defendants of interfering with contracts and business relationships. The complaint details how these actions have allegedly caused him significant harm, although specifics about how exactly these entities interfered remain broad.

In addition to monetary compensation, Emrit is pursuing equitable remedies such as injunctions against further tariff impositions and adjustments to interest rates by federal entities. He argues that these measures are necessary to mitigate inflation within the United States.

Representing himself pro se, Ronald Satish Emrit's ambitious legal battle faces substantial hurdles given its scope and complexity. The case has been assigned Case ID 25-cv-0462 under Chief Judge Shelly Dick's jurisdiction.
