A St. James Parish man is suing UP Equip, Inc., and man-lift manufacturer EasyLift SRL after he was allegedly injured using a lift, according to documents filed on March 5 in the Eastern Louisiana District Court.

Plaintiff Benjamin St. Pierre is an arborist, and he ordered an EasyLift man lift bucket on a small tracked vehicle through UP Equip in August 2019, the complaint states.

The lift worked as it should for several months, until it suddenly flipped over while St. Pierre was working on a job at Raceland Elementary School, dropping him to the ground, he claims. As a result, St. Pierre suffered a broken jaw and other injuries.

According to the suit, even though St. Pierre immediately contacted the defendants, no return, repair or replacement has been offered. Pierre requests the court award the price that he paid for the lift, his medical expenses and other damages.

St. Pierre is represented by the Maley Law Firm of Baton Rouge and Steve Irving, LLC, of Baton Rouge.
