Lawsuit: University View Academy superintendent accused of 'purging' white male staff

Federal Court
Courtgavel456

BATON ROUGE - The Foundation for Louisiana students, the University View Academy and UVA Superintendent Michelle Clayton were all sued in federal court earlier this month for alleged wrongful termination and discrimination.

The complaint was filed on April 14 in the Middle Louisiana U.S. District Court by Lincoln David Stress, a former special education supervisor at UVA.

Strauss was more than 60 years old at the time of his termination and accuses the defendants of firing him because of his age, gender and race in what Strauss called a "systemic purge of white males" out of the UVA faculty.

Strauss was replaced by a younger, less qualified female and four other colleagues were also, the suit says.

Strauss sues the defendants for Title VII Civil Rights Act violations and seeks back pay in damages.

The plaintiff is represented by the Carver Law Firm LLC of Baton Rouge.
