Lowe's hit with lawsuit after woman's fall in garden center

Federal Court
Lowes

LAFAYETTE -- A woman is suing Lowe's after allegedly suffering injuries due to a fall.

Kay B. Dugas filed a federal complaint on July 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana against Lowe's Home Centers LLC, for negligence.

According to the complaint, on August 17, 2020, Dugas was at a Lowe's store in the garden center when she stepped into an uncapped sewer line hole, causing severe injuries. Dugas alleges that the Lowe's Center knew the sewer line hole was uncapped and was negligent in warning patrons of the dangers of the uncapped sewer line hole.

Dugas seeks past and future medical expenses, compensation for past and future physical, mental and emotional suffering, permanent impairment, attorney's fees and cost of suit. Dugas is represented by Jacob H. Hargett of Welborn and Hargett, LLC.
