NEW ORLEANS -- Ashante Dominque Segue sued Walmart for wrongful death in June in Orleans Parish District Court.

According to the complaint, on June 17, 2020, Gavan Amos walked into the walk-in freezer and slipped on a wet floor, fell on his buttocks, and felt a popping sensation to his right knee with associated pain and swelling, and fell back down when he tried to get up off of the ground.

Due to his injuries, Gavan Amos had to undergo surgery on August 2, 2020. He died that day at only 31 years old.

Segue seeks damages in the wrongful death claim, attorney's fees and cost of suit. Sugue is represented by Jeremy J. Pichon, LLC.

Walmart removed the case to federal court in August.
