BATON ROUGE - Port Allen's police department and the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office will go to federal court to fight a lawsuit that accuses them of fatally shooting a man then covering it up.
Tara Snearl, mother of Fatrell Queen, deceased, on behalf of Ayanna Queen Tran, minor child, in July amended her 2018 lawsuit to pursue claims in West Baton Rouge Parish District Court against the City of Port Allen, Mike Cazes, Briant Lantry, Tiffeny Robertson Wycoskie, Port Allen Police Department, West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office and ABC Insurance Agencies for survival and wrongful death based on battery or negligent killing, intentional infliction of emotional distress or negligent infliction of emotional distress and fraud.
According to the complaint, Fatrell Queen was shot by an unknown assailant on Nov. 2, 2017, while at home. Allegedly moments later, officer from the Port Allen Police Department and the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office arrived on scene and swept the location and shot Queen a second time, killing him. Tara Snearl alleges that officers then proceed to cover up their role in Queen's death by a series of unusual actions and explanations.
Snearl seeks compensatory and special damages, attorney's fees and cost of suit. Snearl is represented by William Most.
After the amended petition was filed, defendants removed the case to Baton Rouge federal court.
