Friends of Impact Charter Schools has filed a lawsuit against Educational Networks, accusing the company of unauthorized access and control over its website. The complaint was lodged by Friends of Impact Charter Schools in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana on March 27, 2025, targeting Educational Networks.
The case revolves around allegations that Educational Networks improperly allowed individuals without legal authority to access and modify the Impact Charter School website. This unauthorized access allegedly led to the misappropriation of digital assets and funds belonging to Friends of Impact Charter Schools (FOICS), a nonprofit organization managing student-related activities at Impact Charter School. Chakesha Scott, representing FOICS, seeks a declaratory judgment to affirm FOICS's control over the website, injunctive relief to restore it to its original state, and damages for harm caused by these actions.
According to the complaint, since 2014, Educational Networks has been providing hosting services for the school's online presence. However, in 2025, amidst ongoing federal litigation concerning Education Explosion Inc.'s governance—a related entity—Educational Networks granted full administrative access to individuals associated with a contested state-appointed board. These individuals allegedly made unauthorized changes to the website and accessed sensitive financial data. The plaintiff argues that this breach not only violated contractual agreements but also posed significant legal risks.
The plaintiff contends that FOICS is entitled to exclusive control over the website as it manages all student-related activities and financial operations for Impact Charter School. Despite being aware of pending litigation involving Education Explosion Inc., Educational Networks reportedly failed to exercise caution similar to financial institutions that have frozen disputed funds until court resolution. The plaintiff seeks declaratory judgment confirming FOICS's rightful control over the website and associated accounts.
Friends of Impact Charter Schools is pursuing several forms of relief from the court: declaratory judgment affirming their control over digital assets; preliminary and permanent injunctions requiring restoration of the website's original state; freezing administrative access until federal litigation concludes; ensuring protection against unauthorized access; compensatory damages; punitive damages; and coverage for costs and attorneys' fees incurred during this legal battle.
Representing Friends of Impact Charter Schools is attorney Kathleen M. Wilson from Wilson Law Firm LLC in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The case is presided over by Judge Brian A. Jackson under Case ID 3:25-cv-00263-BAJ-RLB.
